Episode 90: San Diego Comic-Con Podcasting 101 Panel

This episode is the belated release of the audio recording of our Podcasting 101 Panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2022. It was a great experience hosting this panel in person, back at SDCC in person for the first time in 3 years. Amin was joined by Aziz, Michal, and David on a fun panel that covered the basics of planning, recording, editing, releasing, and promoting podcasts and answered audience questions. Episode 88: The Other Works of George RR Martin

In alignment with Bastards of Kingsgrave’s longest running reread of George RR Martin’s earlier works, BOK releases the recording of the A Podcast of Ice and Fire & Vassals of Kingsgrave panel hosted online at Ice and Fire Con in April 2021. Amin and Duncan provide an introduction to George’s prolific works, look for connections to ASOIAF, and discuss George’s overall development as a writer and his philosophy toward writing genres.

Episode 82: Comic Con 2019 / Anime and Manga Corner XI

Bastards of Kingsgrave talks about Comic Con 2019,  in particular our experiences setting the world record at the Dragonball World Tour and attending the Orville Experience. After the initial convention chat, we proceed with our Anime and Manga corner: talking about Dragonball, One Punch Man Season 2, what we are watching this anime season and what we are reading, and the Kyoto Animation tragedy. In the aftershow, we talk about the latest monumental manga chapters of Attack on Titan and our general thoughts on whether the manga has lost its way the past few years.

Episode 81: Anime North 2019

We recap our time at Anime North 2019, held in Toronto, Canada. We cover our experiences at the convention, including taking part as panelists and media, cospalying, organizing and running photoshoots, and seeing the exhibitor hall and artist alley. We take a no holds barred approach to evaluating the positives and negatives of Canada’s largest anime convention.

Episode 80: Convention Season 2019

Bastards of Kingsgrave starts our coverage of the 2019 convention season with a recap of our time visiting as press at Calgary Expo 2019, including a live interview on the floor with Andrew Phung and Paul Sun-Hyung Lee from CBC’s Kim’s Convenience TV show (starts at 7 minutes in, audio quality improves around 7min 40 seconds in).

In the aftershow, we talk about our time at the Otafest anime convention and about our upcoming conventions this year. We also discuss the recent movies we have seen (Alita: Battle Angel,  Avengers: Endgame, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse) in a spoiler full discussion.

Episode 77: Anime North 2018

Overlapping partly with recording an episode for A Podcast of Ice and Fire, we do a recap of our time at Anime North 2018, held in Toronto, Canada. We cover our experiences at the convention, including taking part as panelists, cosplaying, organizing and running photoshoots, and seeing the exhibitor hall and artist alley. We are not sure if we will be attending next year, so we take the time to evaluate the convention as a whole, both the positives and negatives, based on our last few years of attending the largest Anime convention in Canada.

Episode 73: Anime and Manga Corner VIII

Bastards of Kingsgrave returns with a Anime and Manga Corner for Summer 2017.  After talking about the anime and manga scene at San Diego Comic Con 2017, we have a full spoiler discussion of the Koe no Katachi movie (4.5 minutes in).

We cover the most up to date Attack on Titan chapters (22.5 minutes in). We also discuss KonoSuba Season 2 (44.5 minutes in), Watamote’s latest chapters (51 minutes in), Gekkan Shoujo’s latest chapters (53.5 minutes), Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san’s latest chapters (56 minutes in), One Punch Man’s latest chapters (61 minute in), and the Koi to Uso anime (69 minutes in).
